The Difference Between Dark, Milk and White Chocolate

  Chocolate is sweet, creamy, and rich. Chocolate was first cultivated as early as 1900 B.C and used cacao seeds as currency. Chocolate's popularity extended to Europe when Spanish conquistadors returned from Central and South America with cacao seeds. Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans and provides a flavor desirable to many people. Famous for its smooth and creamy texture, chocolate is produced by cacao beans. First, the beans are roasted and peeled, then ground into a paste called cocoa mass. Cocoa mass is mixed with sugar and cocoa butter to make chocolate and formed into various shapes. Many different types of chocolate products exist, i.e., dark, milk, and white chocolate, each having an additional amount and type of fat. The resulting products vary in color depending on the amount of sugar and fat they contain.
